The day before yesterday was the grand opening of the Santa Fe Railyard. Pretty soon the RailRunner will take people like me from Santa Fe to Albuquerque to the airport, and maybe someday to Taos. It's Nice to know that theres a train station close by. And there are some restaurants and bars on-site so its pretty cool. Reminds me of Europe for some reason. Anywho, what really got my attention was that giant 3-story sculpture you see on the left.

It is known as "Golden Gates Immigrant Memorial Bridge Over Troubled Borders," by artist Neil Bernstein. I'm not one to plug, but this is truly amazing.

What I've learned is that the Santa Fe Railyard big-wigs want to tear it down because its an "eye-sore," and offends many people. I hope they don't.

It's a memorial to all the illegal aliens that have died illegally crossing the border. It has been destroyed, rebuilt, vandalized, and to me, has become a real interactive piece. A piece that keeps growing physically due to the contributions people have made to it. It is so interesting, I mean, you can spend hours readying the news clippings people have posted on it, the graffiti, looking at all the clothes left behind...

The artist had to construct the barbed wire fence to keep people away from it. Do yourself a
favor and read more about it here: http://santafe.com/Pages/1626

Exhausted after my walk through the railyard, I had to stop at the beer tent where this guy
was pouring fresh Santa Fe Brewing Co. IPA's. Yum
